| Instructions | Specimen: 1mL (0.5mL) Serum from Red-top tube or gel-barrier tube Collection: Transport blood immediately to laboratory. Incubate at 37°C and allow to clot at 37°C. Separate serum from cells. If there is not a 37°C incubator, allow to clot at room temperature and separate serum from cells immediately after clotting. Storage Requirements: Refrigerated Storage Instructions: Do not refrigerate prior to separation of serum from red cells. Store separated serum in refrigerator. Cause for Rejection: Refrigeration of the specimen before separating serum from cells |

| Clinical Use | Cold agglutinin disease must be considered for all patients with acquired hemolytic anemia who have a positive direct antiglobulin test. Also suspected for patients with chronic liver disease, certain viral infections and Mycoplasma pneumoniae infection. |
